THE SEGRETO EXPERIENCE

meg segeto artisitic directorOur teaching staff are experienced professionals, with diverse performing, teaching and educational backgrounds, many of whom have early education teaching experience. All our teachers are certified and continue their education with classes, seminars and performances around the United States. All teachers follow the same curriculum, providing for students seamless transition from year to year, teacher to teacher. Our teachers are not distracted by administrative work or customer service; we have a full time office staff to assist you during your student’s class time.

A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER…

Dance Class not only teaches technique, it opens up the world of “The Arts” to our students through movement, music and historical relevance.  Dance class at Meg Segreto’s also gives students the opportunity to learn in a group setting, develop self-awareness, self-reliance and poise, build friendships and work as part of a team.  The mental, emotional and social benefits of dance help our students excel in their daily life outside the studio.

Our students have something healthy to be focused on and passionate about, all in a supportive, engaging atmosphere.  Our belief is that a teacher’s influence on their students extends far beyond the obvious physical benefits.  All students are eligible to accumulate Community Service Hours by participating in the many functions and performances during the school year with our dance company, Perpetual Motion.  Although there is hard work and a lot of time put in, many of our students (who chose the college prep program) reap the rewards of dance scholarships to top tier universities.

SCHOOL INFORMATION:

FACULTY

MSDC staff are experienced professionals, with diverse performing, teaching and educational backgrounds, many of whom have early education teaching experience.

Teacher Assistants in most classes provide an extra set of eyes and hands, helping the teacher ensure that individualized attention is given to each student.

FACILITIES

All of our dance floors are Professional Floating Marley floors, reducing the risk of injury and allowing students to dance longer without fatigue. Floor Length Mirrors in each classroom allowing students full view of their body placement and their feet from anywhere in the room. End of Year Performance at a professional theater. Age appropriate music, choreography and costumes for all classes.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Attendance:
Regular class attendance is imperative for consistent progress and to insure that the dancer receives the maximum benefit from the class. It is especially important as we prepare for recital after the Winter Break as a student’s absence can have an effect on formations involving other students and placement in the choreography of the dance.

If a student must miss a class please call the studio number at: 954-530-5959 prior to scheduled class time so we can notify the teacher.

When you enroll in a class a spot is reserved for you and there are no refunds for absences. Make-up classes are available. Please check at the front desk for the most appropriate make-up class.

Observation/Visitors:
No parents or siblings are allowed in the classrooms unless invited by the teacher.
Children behave differently when parents are in the room and tend to cling to you instead of focusing on the teacher and experiencing the class. Please observe the class from the hallway.

Open House:
Open House is held for one week in October of each year. During that week you are invited in to the class and may take pictures or videos. Please check our Calendar and Events page for this year’s dates.

Teacher Conferences:
Our teachers have the best interest of your child as their priority. If you would like to discuss your child, your teacher will be happy to speak to you on the phone or meet with you by appointment only. In fairness to all children in the class and to ensure that our classes start and end on time please do not attempt to discuss situations with the teacher before or after class.

Recital Costumes:
Measuring takes place in November for our June performance. We order our costumes from professional costume companies.

Cancelling Classes:
Class may be cancelled due to events beyond our control such as power outages or Hurricanes and Hurricane Watches. When available, Zoom classes can take place of cancellation.

Substitute Teachers:
The studio reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regularly scheduled teacher is sick or otherwise unable to teach. If a teacher is ill and we cannot arrange for a substitute, class will be cancelled and a make-up class arranged.

Privacy Policy:
Your personal and payment information will not be shared. It is for Meg Segreto’s Dance Centre use only.

Photo Release:
Photos and or video may be taken in class for use on our website, yearbook, recital program, promotion or advertising. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please make arrangements at the front desk.
